Tennis enthusiasts converge in Indian Wells for the BNP Paribas Open (March 7 to 20), while art patrons come for the La Quinta Arts Festival (March 10 to 13). Fashionistas head to Palm Desert for Fashion Week El Paseo (March 20 to 28), while those with true grit pony up for Palm Springs WestFest & Rodeo (March 24 to 27) .

International culinary sensation Sean O’Connell has been appointed executive chef at Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa. O’Connell has held top culinary positions at such places as the Fontainebleau Resort and has worked in kitchens around the globe, including in Thailand, Indonesia, Hong King, Singapore, Germany and Hawaii.
O’Connell will lead the property’s 70-person kitchen staff and oversee the dining venues, including the resort’s signature restaurant, bluEmber. To celebrate his appointment, the resort is offering a new package with an overnight stay and a $100 dining credit. The package starts at $249.
